Hyper with OFNA Pilot Tim Dunn takes Two - 7/3/10
Reported by Tim Dunn - The OFNA products Hyper 10sc and Hyper 9e sweep Saturday night racing at West Coast Raceway.  After 2 rounds of qualifying I was TQ in both the 4x4 short course and 1/8 buggy classes.  Having found a good setup on both vehicles I was confident going into the finals.  The 1/8 scale buggy main was first and my Hyper 9e was ready.  After a clean start I was able to find my rhythm and pull away for the win!  The 4x4 Short Course main was the last race of the night and once again my Hyper 10sc delivered!  The truck performed flawless all night and brought home another win.  It was entertaining watching the battle for second place as I completed my victory lap!

Hyper 10SC wins at Hemet Raceway on Short Course Friday Nights 6/26/10

Reported by DJ - With more than 90 entries in just short course racing and 4 heats of it being Pro 4x4, it would be a long and exciting night rubbing, racing,mid-air crashes and stick-it lawn darting.  Me and fellow Jammin driver James (Hyberboy) Grossaint took a 2hr. drive to Riverside county to race with Track Star Services and Jammin driver Jimmy Wright along with MC Magic Mic Chris Viera to see what there Short Course racing was all about in their local area.  With a raffle and free hotdogs and burgers it sure brings an awesome crowd of people to come and enjoy some rc racing.  The track was loamy and the tires of choice seemed to be AKA rubber as Jimmy Wright was the only one to break into the 10 lap run for the TQ, as I would start out 6th in the main.  The track was demanding with the big double-triple jump being the showcase of thrills and major breaks and other parts of the track that provided some equalizing to bring positions close together for continued battles, the main would be an exciting race.  The A-main provied a pile-up into the first corner as Jimmy would take some big blows after the crashes and be at the back of the pack as I would manage to get to 3rd after the Mega triple and would settle in to work forward.  As I said the track had some places to pull you back in to contention and I would managed to take the 2nd spot with time running out.  But on the last lap hearing that the 1st position driver took a bad spill somewhere on the backside of the track for me to dig back in and overtake before he dragged over to the line but he DNF-ed and I took the win.  Wow the night was too much fun and spectating was like watching a baseball game as the benches were full families and friends.  Special that's to Chris Viera for putting on a good show on the mic and calling me Shamwow and James South Compton.  And James had an event full evening as his transponder was giving him problems in the quals that put him in the D-main, but put on a clinic to get two bump-ups to the B-main with a strong Fantom battery pack, boy James you sure got your money's worth.

Oval and OFNA go together like Pea's & Carrots!
Reported by Robin Nelson - This past weekend I made the trip up through the Blue Ridge Mountains to Outback Raceway in Greenville, Tennessee. This weekends race was the Tennessee Sate Championship race. With a good crowd of racers on hand the owners of the track, The Valentines, treated their racers to a pig barbecue supper. With our bellies full, we prepared to battle for the State Championship. The schedule consisted of 3 rounds of qualifying and main events. Classes ran in the state race were 1/8 Limited Late Model, 1/8 Sprint Car and 1/8 Open Late Model. Temperature was in the high 90’s during the day, so thank goodness this race was run at night with temperature in the 70’s. After three rounds of qualifying the top qualifiers were as follows: 1/8 Limited Late Model, Andy McClellan 49/ 4:00 ; 1/8 Sprint Car, Robin Nelson 46/4:01 ; 1/8 Open Late Model 49/4:04. After the dust had settled in the mains here are the results:

Hyper 10SC wins again with Tim Dunn at West Coast RC 6-20-10

Reported by DJ - With a fresh new layout and 2 full heats of 4x4 short course it was set for a great day of racing. Tim was able to grab TQ in the first round as the Hyper 10SC truck was dialed. He was even able to improve time in the second round keeping the TQ position for the final. In the final Tim got a clean start and worked on making clean consistent laps. One small tangle with traffic tightened things up a little, but in the end the Hyper 10SC crossed the line in 1st! The Nitrohouse.com Super Service Rep said that the Hyper 10SC handled great all day and made my job easier.

Chad Bradley wins JBRL round #4 in Bakersfield

Reported by DJ - Chad Bradley takes the the TQ and win over the weekend at Racer's Haven in Bakersfield Ca. in Short Course Unlimited.  With two heats of unlimited SC racing there would be a fight to get into the top spots for the A-main.  The battle in the main was for second and third as Bradley checked-out with Novak and Protek powered equipment and had to check-up on second and third from lapping them as DJ(Hyper) and Kevin Smith(Jammin) kept close together as they changed a couple of times in position from slight mistakes and battling through the traffic.  But in the last minute DJ took a bad roll for Kevin to pull away and take 2nd in the race and DJ to grab 3rd.Racer's Haven was one of the more interesting tracks on the JBRL series as the track was tar layed and dust-free, but made for some corners a lil drifty and other corners with killer bite for traction rolling.  Tires were surely getting tested to the fullest and the ESC's along with motors were sure getting temperature checked on a regular basis, so if you don't have your OFNA temp probe you may need to get one as the summertime time will put a strain on those electrics.  Better to be safe than sorry, 10154 is your winning key to racing ;)

Oval is still King out Outback Raceway - 6/12/10
Reported by Robin Nelson - This past weekend was the Nitro Outlaw Series Race held at Outback Raceway in Greeneville, Tennessee.  The series is a six race series across the Southeast run by Donnie Victor.  70 of the Southeast's best Dirt Oval racers showed up to battle.  The Valentine's, owners of Outback Raceway, did a great job of keeping the track smooth and prepped throughout the weekend, despite temperatures soring in the high 90's with crazy humidity.  Schedule for the race was a qualifier and a "Dash for Cash" race Friday night and returning Saturday afternoon to 3 rounds of qualifying and main events.  Classes were 1/10 10.5 Electric Late Model, 1/10 Nitro Late Model, 1/8 Limited Late Model and 1/8 Super Late Model.  Friday night was a success and we returned Saturday to a morning rain shower, but the track crew had covered the track with tarps and when the rain stopped they uncovered the track, and within an hour the track was ready to go.  Qualify was intense with a lot of fast cars present, Johnny Broyles TQ'd the 1/8 Limited Late Model and Andy McCelellan TQ'd the 1/8 Super Late Model with OFNA Team Driver Robin Nelson in 2nd.  Robin Nelson would like to thank the Valentine's and Donnie Victor for running a great race and keeping a  consistent track, despite the super hot conditions!

Brian Bourland wins at Asylum Xtreme Raceway with Hyper 9 2.0

Reported by Brian Bourland, posted by DJ - Round 1 of the Local Joe Point Series kicked off this past weekend at Asylum Xtreme Raceway located in Louisville, Ky.  This series alternates between REO Raceway in Evansville, In & AXR in Louisville.  The 1st round saw a total of 73 entrants ready to battle it out on the orange clay in the 95+ degree heat.  The 1st round saw my Hyper 9 2.0 take TQ and that time would hold until the 3rd round.  A little water to the track surface saw my TQ slip away in the 3rd round.  After qualifying was finished I was relegated to the 4th starting spot.  Unfazed by the turn of events I knew my Hyper 9 2.0 would prevail in the end.  After a fair start and claiming 2nd position, I then focused on chasing down the leader.  In the end some strategic pit strategy and a dialed H9 2.0 went on to claim victory in rnd1 of the point series.

Alabama Cups, Kortz gets 2nd - 6/04/10

Reported by Robin Nelson: 6/4/10 - This past weekend I drove down to Cullman, Alabama for the Manufacturer Shootout race.  Cullman is located right down the road from the famous Talladega Super Speedway, the largest track on the NASCAR schedule.  The race turned out being a huge success with close to 500 entries. All the top ranking pro drivers showed up at this race battling for the chance to take home the Manufacturer Shootout trophy.  The race track was great with a hard packed clay surface and flowing layout.  The track was  held at a large indoor arena where afternoon showers could not interrupt racing.  For those that don't know, this time of the year in Alabama is HOT!  Temperatures where in the low 80's to high 90's with super high humidity.  Practice was Thursday, with qualifying Friday and Mains Saturday, this type of schedule allowed racers who drove, the ability to drive home on Sunday without taking a day off work.  Jimmy Babcock ran the races keeping tight on a schedule so all racers would get as much time on the track as possible.  I didn't race myself, but chose to crew chief Jeremy Kortz, he takes a lot of attention, especially running 2 classes.  Qualifying went well with Jeremy qualifying 2nd in Hyper 9e 1/8 Buggy and 5th in Hyper 9Pro 2.0 1/8 Gas Buggy.

The track was grooving up and the speeds showed in the mains.  First up 1/8 Electric Buggy, Jesse Robbers (aka "Napoleon Dynamite") from HB(TQ) and OFNA/Hobao driver Jeremy Kortz had a great battle for the full 10 min. main with Jesse coming out on top and Kortz finishing second.

Next was the 1/8 Gas Buggy 40 min. A-main.  Kortz started 5th and got tangled in the first corner, starting at the back of the pack, Kortz battled his way back up to 3rd by the middle of the race.  But, towards the end of the race Kortz's tires started to wear and he had to settle with a 5th place finish.

Great finishes for a guy who hasn't run many indoor races.  Kortz and I would like to thank Allen Burton and his crew for a great race! Hope to see you there next year, Yall.

James G.(Hyperboy) wins at WCRC - 5/25/10

Reported by DJ - James Grossaint wins with his Jammin SCRT-10 on Friday night at WCRC.  After a firm grip on TQ, he only needed to get into the first corner cleanly to win the race.  As for the rest of the pack which scrambled back and forth for positions, James cruised towards the win and posting the double tap for the night.  Good job James now to get that nitro finger all worked in with the Mutilator Pro and see what you can really do.

Eric Kirts wins with Hyper 9 2.0 at the KBRL Nationals - 5/27/10

Reported by Eric Kirts, posted by DJ - Sunday was the KBRL Nationals in Florence Az. send off race at Sun Lakes rc club.  The race format was set-up and ran like the nationals with 7 minute quals and 45 minute A mains.  The racers were ranked by Kenny Brosh and grouped into three classes, Intermediate, Expert and Pro.  I was ranked 16th. putting me in expert, I did well in the quals and actually made the pro A in 9th place.  I had the option the run The Pro A or the Expert A, I decided to run the Expert A starting first on the grid.  I had a couple of fast sponsored losi drivers giving me a good battle for much of the main, but stayed focused and took the win by 2 laps at the end.  My Hyper 9 2.0 was smooth and the JL .21 Pro Engine never missed a beat!  Thank you and OFNA for the support.

Hyper 9 2.0 wins at Tri-Cities Raceway - 5/22/10

Reported by Joe Cathey, posted by DJ - Another weekend and a nother TQ and win for the Hyper 9 2.0.  This weekend was at my home track, Tri-Cities RC Raceway in Pasco, Washington for the forth race of the summer series.  The Hyper 9 2.0 was at home on the smooth clay surface and easily took the TQ and win for the 15 minute A Main.  Running a Hyper 9 2.0 with the Type B rear tower and arms, the car was consistent and easy to drive fast laps.

Hyper 9 2.0 wins at JCP Raceway - 5/22/10
Reported by Brian Borland, posted by DJ - With the start of the outdoor nitro season underway here in Indiana, and the weather cooperating for only the second time this spring, racing was underway at JCP's Midwest Monster located in Edinburgh, Indiana.  Qualifying was tight, after the 3rd round, the mains were finalized and the order set.  My Hyper 9 2.0 was sandwiched in 2nd place between 2 local Mugen hot shoes.  At the drop of the flag it was a clean start, as we approached the first jump section, a bobble by the leader allowed the Hyper 9 2.0 to make a pass into the lead and I never looked back.  The Mugens kept pressure on my Hyper 9 2.0 for a while but eventually I was able to pad my lead and coast it home after 20mins.

Kortz takes second at JBRL series - 5/23/10
Reported by Jeremy Kortz - 5/23/10 : JBRL Series race was held at ARC.  With 208 entrys, It was the first time I've ever been there.  Also with the new 17mm shocks and 4mm chassis.  I know there is more new stuff, I would like to get some of everything asap before the ROAR Nationals next month.

Expert 4wd Short Course Triple A-Mains

Tim & Tim Take the Hyper10sc for a 45minute ride at WCRC - 5/21/10
Reported by Tim Bump: Tim Bump and Tim "JT" Dunn won the West Coast Short Course 45 minute electric endurance race with the Hyper 10SC 4x4 powered by the Novak Havoc Pro ESC and Novak HV 4.5 motor. The 45 minute endurance race was a race with teams of two people on each team. Ten teams of two had to change batteries and switch from driving ...to turn marshal position while on the clock, so there was some running involved along with fast consistent driving and reliable race equipment. Tim Bump was the first to drive and had the lead before the first battery change. Tim Dunn drove the second stint holding the lead and Team NitroHouse never looked back taking the race win after 45 minutes of fast driving, fast battery swaps, and fast driver changes.

Jammin SCRT10sc win at Norcal Hobbies - 5/15/10

Reported by Jerry Ugalino/posted by DJ - OFNA Jammin SCRT-10 podiums top three at Norcal Hobbies.  The Norcal Hobbies Short Course Nation once again delivered another exciting race.  Week after week, the Ofna Jammin SCRT10 and OFNA Hyper 10SC continue to dominate the 4x4sc class on the new 10th scale off-road track built by Co-owner Kevin Jelich.  The race belonged to John Hubbard (check out his website www.rcshortcourse.com) and his newly acquired SCRT-10.  John led for the most part of the race until a few crucial mistakes opened the door for Sean Sargiotto.  Sean held down the lead but fell back into second when Hubbard came back storming with his fast lap of 23.26!  John thought the race belonged to him until Jerry Ugalino aka Watermelon Car and a Norcal regular started making his move after passing Sean to take second.  Jerry had his fair share of opportunities to take over the lead in the final minute of the race but could not capitalize on Hubbards mistakes.  If you get a chance, stop by during the week at the windy Norcal Hobbies in Union City, CA.  You'll find a Jammin or Hyper on the track just blowing by the competition

Hyper 9 2.0 TQ's and wins at Selah RC Raceway - 5/15/10

Reported by Joe Cathey & Posted by DJ - Well I had a fun weekend.   I traveled an 1.5 hours to Selah RC Raceway, which is O'Donnell country, to take on three O'Donnell team drivers at their home track.  I TQ'ed and won easily.  They could not match the pace of the Hyper 9 2.0.  There was another guy with a brand new Hyper 9 2.0 there, so I gave him some pointers on things I've tried to get him started.  I know it was just a club race, but it's always fun to go to someone else's home track and spank 'em.
