Nexx 10sc win at Hot Rod Raceway with Chad Bradley 3/29/11 by DJ
OFNA Gaige Herrera wins the TLR Series at OCRC -3/29/11 by DJ
Reported by Gaige Herrera - During the 7 week series I ran the pro 4 short course class, driving the Hyper 10SC till the last round when I ran the brand new Hong Nor Nexx 10SC. Through out the series I managed to 3 TQs, get 2 wins and managed to finish on the podium every round. It was a close battle between myself and Aaron Lane for the number one spot in the points all the way till the end when I ended up getting the overall championship by 1 point.

Kortz takes the win in 4x4 Short Course at Psycho Nitro Blast 2011 - 3/10/11 by DJ
Reported by Robin Nelson -
The 4th Annual Psycho Nitro Blast was held March 10th through the 13th
in the Southeastern Arena in Unadilla, GA. The track was designed for
this race and over 500 drivers came out for this insane "Jab the Vein"
classic. Practice began on Thursday and qualifying began on Friday
afternoon at 5:30pm. Jeremy Kortz and I both raced in the 1/8 Pro Nitro
Buggy and 4x4 Electric Open Short Course classes. OFNA and Werks
Racing (a sponsor of the race) had a great weekend on the podium. Kortz
qualified 3rd in Pro Buggy and finished 4th in the hour long A main.
He also TQ'd and won the 4x4 Short Course A-main. We ran two A-mains
for this class and the times were averaged together to indicate the
winner. I finished in the C main in Pro Buggy and finished 4th in the
A-main in Short Course. This is an unusual race since racing is held 24
hours a day for 4 days. The huge facility was awesome and the event
was well executed. Thanks to Ollie, Dave and Bob for hosting such a
great weekend of racing!

Chad wins with his 4x4 SCRT10 at Hot Rods - 3/4/11 by davegm
Reported by Chad Bradley - Hot Rod Hobbies: The first Friday night club race at Hot Rod Raceway was a huge success bringing in over 100 entries to their new club night. In the Pro 4wd SC class Chad Bradley took the win in both rounds of qualifying driving the SCRT-10 setting the TQ going into seven minute main event. The start of the main did not go as planned as Chad got loose and spun on the start and had to make his way through traffic from nearly last place, Chad was able to regain the lead on the third lap and was able to continue setting fast lap times which in turn lead to a one lap lead over second place. 4x4 Short course A-main Video

Will wins at new track in Palmdale Ca. - 3/8/11 by DJ
Reported by Will Eikenberry - I went to the new track in Palmdale called Controlled Chaos Raceway, it's a little small, maybe the size of hot rod but square. The track is SC all the way with small jumps and very small line, you have to right on to go fast. They have been running it dry so you have lots of grip but there are so many little bumps and ruts you have to be careful about getting it sliding.I got a little practice in before the heats and finished the first heat second and the same in round two to another guy. I had run a few 23.7s but mostly 24s. I was worried about the first lap, the straight goes into a 180 and I was sure there was going to pile. There was but somehow I got through it with the lead. I held the lead for three min with second and third catching me and bobbling over and over. I turned it over and and gave the lead away, I was matching speed with the leader but wasn't making any time and he was driving clean. At five min mark I got it together and ran five low 22s to catch the leader. I was faster in a couple of sections but he would get away from me just before the straight in a series of diagonal bumps. I would be right on him again but couldn't make a clean pass. with half a lap to go the pressure paid off and he piped it giving me the lead to the end.

Randy & Jason takes 1 & 2 at WCRC - 3/6/11 by davegm
Reported by Jason Kung - West Coast R/C Raceway: We went to West Coast R/C Raceway early to test out different set-ups for the new HoBao Hyper Star. After a couple of hours of testing, we already found a good set-up. The new car is a easier and driver friendly car. As we were getting ready for the races, fellow teammate James Grossaint showed up. Since he came, it was a perfect chance to test the times on the Hyper Star. In the first round of qualifying, Jason Kung set the early TQ with Randy Kung in second and James Grossaint in third. In the second qualifier, Jason improved his old TQ time by 3 seconds. Randy also improved his time by 3 seconds. As the mains came, Jason, Randy, and James stayed together with first, second, and third position. Racing until the last minute, Jason and Randy went for the quad line instead of the double- double. However, a slight air collision gave the better end to Randy. The race finished with Randy in first, Jason in second, and James in third.

FEBRUARY... A MONTH OF CLUB RACING by davegm
Reported by Robin Nelson - February was a month of club racing at my local track, The Hobby Connection in Easley, SC. I ran both 4x4 Short Course Truck and 1/8th scale buggy. The weather has alternated from temperatures in the 30's to the high 70's this month so I had a wide range of conditions to race in and prepare for the upcoming Psycho Nitro Blast in March. This area has had a surge of new drivers in the 1/8th scale class, but the Short Course racers are still the majority of the 60 to 75 drivers each week. I've won both Short Course and1/8th scale classes this month to keep OFNA Hypers at the top of the podium. I've enjoyed this month at home since the bigger races out of this area area bout to begin. Happy Birthday to Levi! He celebrated his 10th birthday at the race track. I really enjoyed the cake and Levi loved the new truck body painted by his dad. Thanks for letting me eat half of your cake, Levi!
Kortz takes TQ at Nitro Challenge - 2/27/11 by davegm
Reported by Not Kortz - The Dirt Nitro Challenge is always one of the biggest events of the year and 2011 was no exception. In the Elect Short Course 4x4 class, Jeremy Kortz ended up TQ after Thursday's qualifiers. Saturday was main event day for truck racing and Jeremy Kortz was positioned out front TQ'ing the popular Short Course 4x4 class. When the main event sounded, Jeremy shot out in the lead and led for the first 2 laps. Casey Peck took advantage of a small mistake by Kortz and took the lead. Casey was on fire during the mains and took the win followed by a hard charging Jeremy Kortz in 2nd and Kevin Gahan in 3rd.
Hot Rod Hobbies on Satuday night with Hypers - 2/9/11 by DJ
Reported by DJ - It was the dynamic duo again (James and myself) heading back out to Hot Rod Hobbies to have some good racing with the Hyper cars. I brought my Hyper TT and Hyper 9-2.0 and James testing out his new Tim Bump edition chassis. My Hyper 2.0 would be hard to get a hold of as I was having glitching problems through the race program and the main and would have to call it quits early in the main because the glitching only got worse. My Hyper TT however was good from practice to racing the only hiccup in my TT was my fan breaking and not have a spare on hand so I would run minus a fan on my Novak Havoc Pro SC. The TT took it's paces as it would TQ in Sc Unlimited and go on to finish it off with a win in the class without failing or over heating. I would run hard in the race to pull away from teammate Will Eikenberry to get a lap on him during the race, I pushed hard over the ski-jump to make fast laps over and over. The TT took the beating as it continued to land on the flat over the S-section of the track to make those good laps, Hyper TT got a lot of looks from the little truggy as it continues to impress. James was able to grab the TQ in his class in the second round and put down a clean run in the quals but in the main it was a different story as he was taking out by a truggy and causing his servo to overextend locking up the servo and ending his night, don't worry James your car looks good the win is just around the corner. Oh and I also forgot to mention as we were heading over to Hot Rod's my Mitsubishi ESC (Alternator) in my Mazda truck took a dumped while we were cursing up the 5fwy at Dodger's stadium. I would like to thank Mr.Pat Grossaint (James dad) for helping us out and getting us back on the road and making it to HR.
King Kung's still getting Double Wins! - 2/14/11 by davegm
Reported by Randy Kung - West Coast R/C Raceway: 1st Annual Honor Guard Fundraiser Race In the 4WD Short course division, Randy Kung ran his Hyper 10SC. In the first round of qualifying, Randy also started from the back and was unable to set the early TQ. However, In the second round of qualifying, Randy was able to beat the TQ time by 12 seconds with a 13/5:03. In the mains, randy started from the pole and led for the first three laps. He made a bobble right before the whoop section which dropped him to second. However, the leader bobbled a few laps later, which allowed Randy to inherit the lead and take the win with a 13:/5:04.
