|
|
Hi, Bought a Dominator and love it. Trouble is it wont change into Second gear. Some one asked if I had a Rear Brake Kit fitted. It only seems to have the One Disc Brake. Is this my problem? If so ADVICE PLEASE.
THANKS X

Welcome Samantha.
You dont need a rear brake kit with the 2 speed, so no thats not the problem.
Theres a few possibilities why it isn't shift'n.
1. The trans is "hung up" in 2nd gear.
2. The engine isn't tuned correctly.
3. 2nd gear engagement needs an adjustment. |

| check your mesh on your spurs...dom 2-speeds have a habit of shredding spurs on the delrin set and clutch bells on the steel set....if you have chewed a gear it will only be 1 speed...just a quick check before you go tearing into it |

Glad to help.
I want to tell you to remove the 2 speed assembly w/ clutchbell and sell it for $50.00+ or more before you tear it up if it isn't already. The Dom 2 speeds aren't known for there durability, the stock delron gears aren't cheap and require frequent maint to avoid expensive repairs. Upgrading to steel gears is an expensive option IF the 2nd gear housing and/or clutch nut shaft doesn't break first read $200 for a reliable 2 speed???
IMO, a single 12 or 13 tooth clutchbell w/ 65 tooth MP spur gear (62 tooth steel option) will put a big smile on your face. |
