guys i am needing a good setup for my h8 pro with the fr2 chassis. the track is a sandy clay track with tight turns. during the day when the sun is out the track is slick but after the sun goes down the traction go up quite a bit.

Aron, 2x 1.4mm holes would be good all around in the old h8 shocks. I would say use my starting setup it shouldwork good for you inthose conditions.
Oneextreameracer, I would check with my base setup I have been using it at almost all tracks i go to with only minor changes, last time all i changed was the droop. |

i copyed your base setup on page 2 for the h8, will the longer chassis make a diff . |

Russ,
I had my first race with my Hyper 8.5 yesterday. I only made it to the first qualifier when I think I tore up my center diff. I was able to get a little practice in before hand and did not have enough time to play with setup. The track surface is very loose. I am extremely tight entereing a corner and extremely loose exiting a corner. It won't turn off throttle and snaps around when I get back into it. I liked the way that it handled jumps and the rough sections of the track. My diff setups are something that we talked about a while back and are what I really liked about my Hyper 8.
My current setup.
Front:
3000 front diff
14mm shocks with white springs
42.5 wt shock oil
shock pistons 2 standard and 2 drilled to #54
shock mounting top second hole from inside on shock tower and bottom outside on arm
-1.5 degees of Camber
20 degree castor blocks
I measured it at 2 degrees of toe-out (it does not look like much toe-out)
Front upper arm is in back position
Tires Komodo Dragon medium soft
Center:
5000 wt standard diff
carbon fiber brakes
Rear:
1000 diff fluid
14mm shocks with white springs
35 wt shock fluid
Shock pistons 2 holes stock and 2 drilled to #54
Shock mounting Top 2nd hole from inside on shock tower and outside hole on arm
-1.5 degrees of Camber
2 degree anti squat
2.5 degree rear toe blocks
inside center hole on camber link mount
Inside top on uprights (1.5 CNC rear uprights)
rear upright spacing is center
Tires Komodo Dragon II medium soft

is there any way to get that link to work again!!! I am new to this sport and i bought a hyper 8 in pieces with all the 8.5 up grades. I am going to put it together with Russjones42 base setup. If possible Russjones42 can you post your base setup with all the changes that you have made. I have got alot of info from this thread and really appreciate the time you all put in to help us nubes out. thanks |

well i registered for the southern indoor champs to be held in oct in autagaville alabama there is more info on their website southernindoorchampionship.com sign up is available on their site and rcsignup.com i just got a new motor and will be breaking it in (go tech 3port ) and have another on layaway os v-spec speed its time to get ready for for some serious racing this year . hope to see some of my fellow hyper racers here for the race .

I am looking to setup my hyper 8 for running mostly at my local track but also to run at rev
i ran it this past tuesday and it just pushed horribly but the car is a bit off
so i am gonna go change a couple of things one being i am gonna
refill my diffs 3f,5c,2/1r
shocks are 40/30 with blue springs(all i have)
and sus. i have no idea but iit needs to made equal and then start from there...reason i say this is because the previous owner had things on it a little off lol..(he was a noob when he had this buggy) i bought it a while back but never really did anything with it..
i think i need to change the shock oils though |

Hi Russ!
I have a question again... :)
I have read Tim's tuning tip regarding to Roll Center.
Now I have read the new X-Ray Buggy manual.

My problem is that, I feel some inconsistency between the two tips.
Tim advice is the followings:
"Lower inner hinge pin location will give you more reactive steering. I use this location on low traction tracks."
As I understand, this means, the lower inner hinge pin location gives lower
roll center. The car can roll better, and It is better for traction.
The XRay manual says:
"Lower holes (higher roll center)
- Decreases steering into corner
- Car is less responsive
- Use in high-grip conditions"
So which is true? I think Tim's advice is right, but maybe... :S

I had a similar situation a little while ago. I read some of Tim's hints and read contradictory hints elsewhere. I posted a question about it and Nitrohouse went and asked Tim directly. Tim said that his hints are for the Hyper 8 or 8.5. It can vary between brands and type of racing. I know that I have used the lower hinge pin location on low grip tracks and it helped. Just my .02
If someone has any better remarks please post them. |

Thank you and correct...
Tim's tips on the Hyper 8/8.5 are specific to it. There are some buggy's that will be true with and some that it won't. Makes things easier doesn't it?? |

russ or anyone out there...
we have a new track here in manila, it's hard-packed, smooth but very loose when dry..my 8.5 kept on spinning even on slight throttle input, so twitchy.. like driving on ice..lol! anyway, kindly help me with the setup.. my current setup, as far as i can recall, is:
std diffs: 4-5-1
jammin sbb shocks 35f, 30r
20deg caster
1deg camber
2 deg toe out
8deg kickup
frnt shocks inner hole on arm, 2nds from inside tower
upper arm lower hole on tower, owner hole on hub
middle ackerman
2deg anti-squat
rear camber link middle inner hole on tower, outer hole on hub
2.5 deg toe in
2deg camber
shocks inner hole rear arm, upper middle hole on tower
1.0mm clutch spring, jammin white clutch shoes
13t cb
std swaybars
grp soft jolly tires
blue vspec eng
