Any tips as to how this should be set up or any tips on how to troubleshoot the system?
From the factory it didn't work for me. My truck wouldn't start using the system. When I checked it by removing the glow plug and inserting the wire on the glow plug while having it touch the engine head (to ground it) it didn't work.
I removed the shrinkwrap on the "fake" glow plug end (the one on the shock tower) and saw that the wires were broken from touching the rod on the glow plug, so I exposed more wire and crimped it back tight. But after further testing, it still doesn't work. I then checked the coil wire end (the part that goes on top of the real glow plug) and the solder was just on one side so I redid that also, but still no luck.
Any tips? I'm using the included ofna glow plug igniter and the system is grounded to the stock location, one on the engine block/engine mount screw and the other on the glow wire block. Or should I just bite the bullet and buy a replacement. |
