| Are you using the original metalshielded bearings? These are crap and should have not been in the kit in the first place. The new redsealed bearings are OK. Check the clearance on the crown gears and also make sure that there's a small bit of clearance on the pinion back and forth. |

| For one it look like the top screws to the gearcase were loose causing the diff to move around too much and hurt the pinion and the bearing, and if you had repaired it did you change the case when you changed the other parts beacause it may not look like it damaged but may have been warped, if I blow a pinion then I would change the case at the same time it always resolves the problem. And I would also use a longer set of srcews for the top of the case they seem to not put alot of grab for the case. |

I've been going through rear crown and pinion gears lately too. The front is still orginal from when I got the kit. I'm on my 3rd rear set. It sucks because the front is still nice and smooth so I dont know why the rear is giving me so many probs.
Maybe there's a heat tranfer issue with having the brake in the rear causing the bearing seat to warp. . Just throwing some thing out there.
Maybe too much load on the bearing under hard braking because the brake being in the back puts a lot of stress on the diff/pinion instantly!
A more typical brake setup allows for more flexing to occur when applying the brakes!
Might need to make a larger bearing for the inside of the case or a aluminum insert sort of like losi does for the rear outdrives! |

The bearing is original black rubber sealed.
I have change for 3 time the gear case, the bearing and pinion but I still had the problem.
I thinks as HyperGRP, the bearing for rear pinion is to small |

Sounds familiar this...
It seems like the new gearboxes are a lot more rigid though. They look and feel better.
I'll put them on my car today, and have two races coming up, so we'll see I guess...
Edit: ooops... Now I see you have the new gearboxes already. But it looks like the top of the case havent been "closed" properly? I know they are a VERY tight fit. So be extra careful when putting it together. |

| Yeah I have alot of miles on my 9 and the gear box failure has only happened twice on me and I run them till it blows and I run the stock bearings weather they are the black bearings or the orange bearings but the the things that is importtant to do now is put in a longer 3mm screw to secure the top of the box, I have screws that go all the way through because I've had my boxes come loode after while so just did the lil mod which I think is really not a mod. |

some times on the new cases the pinion bearing poket is too shallow
1:assymble the case off the chaissi
2:check that you have a little backlash between the pinion and crown gear
if not
3:use an end mill to deepen the pocket
4:use a shim behind the bearing if you have too much backlash |

i use old bearings and old case.
i take 0,3 mm rear of the pinion
3 race all is perfect.
in my new 2.0 i take ~0,25 mm rear of the pinion |
