Well I didn't get the chance to run this weekend but my fellow driver Luis Fernandez ran and had some issues in qualifing and started last in the B-main at Rev. I showed up just it time to help with pitting and retuning the engine. He got it together and finished 1st in the B-main for the bump up started 11th in the a-main, we glued some tires and still worked on some tuning for the engine before the a-main. As the race went on one of the tires was comming off I questioned the gluing of the tire because they didn't looked preped for gluing and that's the end result for it to start comming off during the race so we had to pit in for a tire change by the time he came into the pits he was in second place and I thought he was going to have alot of driving ahead of him to stay above the pace, but we still came out in second (WOW!). He was 16sec. behind the leader and was slowing closing but I thought there was not enough time to catch him so I told him he was about 4 turns away from him and to slow the pace so we can lock up second and when I was going to say it the leader rolled it right in the middle of the track a distance away from a turn marshall, the four turn lead was gone and Luis was on his tail but not for long the pressure was on and 1st place faltered and Luis got the lead and held on for the lead with distance to spare,Congrats Luis and good luck at Nitro Challenge.

Nice job on the tire change there.

Had to do one for a mate who drivers for LRP. By the time the fuel was in i had already changed the tire :D.. Was a bloody miracle, wrench went straight on, tire flew off, spat out the replacement tire (had it in my mouth for ease of changing the tire) and it went on perfect. Dont think i could do it twice lol

Love working in the pit (something i got good with in the Himoto days :( )

By the way, Jconcepts rubber has a nice taste to it

This car is awesome, it handles so good!! I led for a few minutes at the start , got a good start from p4. Came around the line in p2, next time by i was leading, led for about 3-4 minutes. There was some incidental contact when Derek caught up to me and i fell back to p5. I started driving alittle over my head after getting bumped from the lead, that combined with my motor leaning out because i turned the needle in too much, I never could get back to the lead. but Mr. Wilson and I had a pretty good battle going for p4, for the last half of the race.

Losi Series starts this weekend at Revelation will report later on racing, we will have 4 Hyper 9 drivers running this weekend, possibly 5 not sure if Rob Bender is going. Hoping to turn some good results for all the drivers and report some podiums.

Had my first timed run with the car yesterday.

Went out with a setup that was to stiff. But car still performed well, jumping and cornering nicely.

Softened the oils, and the car was excellent. Wasn't many people there so we just let the computer run all day and we would check our times whenever we were finished doing a practice session. First flying lap and i was able to set a fastest lap (was stocked) but could not get the car consistent. Made some more changes, kept working on both setup and driver (was over driving the car pretty bad). After finally getting the car feeling nice, i was able to set faster laps, and very consistent laps as well. This was on a track that is not normally consistent. Was able to do mid 45's consistent with the occasional 46 thrown in.

So after the first day felt very good with the car. Got a race meeting next weekend on one of my favorite tracks of all time. Doing some practice Saturday and racing Sunday. Felt very good on this track with my old car, so hopping to be even quicker with the Hyper.

Will let everyone know how it goes.

3rd time out with the car. Qual'ed 4th and finished 5th this past Wed here at Leisure Hours in the A main. Tired and standing in the wrong spot on the drivers stand didnt help me. Left side of my body was on fire, the right side was cold!

I had 2nd after the first lap then it went down hill from there lol.

New video of that race and the layout can be found on YouTube.

Track looks good Casketman, they must have a good ventilation system!

We ran a night meeting yesterday (Saturday), there are now 4 Hyper 9's in our club. The other H9 in my heat comfortably won most of the races, while I was struggling trying to find my grass setup again after racing on a clay track last weekend. My buggy just wouldn't turn in, but after the 3rd race I finally realized that it was because the front right wheel had 4 degrees of toe-out on it! Note to self - always check the basics first...!

Once that was fixed, buggy was back to it's usual self and I took a win and a close 3rd, for an overall result of 3rd in my heat, 9th overall (out of 34). I got ribbed by a couple of other drivers, saying they were going to have to replace thier rear bumpers because I kept running into them. Not my fault that they have to brake so much ealier for the corners than me!

Two of the other H9's finished 3rd and 5th overall. The 4th H9 finished well down the list as he is still a novice driver. The driver who came in 5th overall normally drives an Xray, tried the Hyper for the first time using the 'Nitrohouse' setup. He ended up with the fastest lap of the day.

Still no breakages to report, all 4 survived the meeting in one piece despite the novices best efforts...!

Sometimes it stays clear in there and then there are times where you need a mask to breath. There are vents in the walls and 2 fans pulling air out in the roof but they cant keep up on those long mains. Which way the wind outside is blowing makes a difference as well.

But its indoor racing and I love it! HAHA

Went down to Canberra for a 2 day racing session.

Did a far bit of practice on Saturday. Just changing things, seeing how the car reacts to certain setup changes. Found a fair few things out on saturday and got the car to be very fast.

Sunday morning the car felt great. Was doing some good times, but i still believed i could get more from it. We were doing 40 second lap times. as the day went on, making some more changes, i finally got the car dialed.

We ran 6 minute heats with the fastest counting, and then 3 x 6 minute finals. First final won it by a good margin. But car was still slow, so i changed the shock pistons and a few other things. In the 2nd leg of the final my motor died on the start line. Running a new motor getting ready for the nationals in 2 weeks. after getting restarted i was about 15 seconds back with 5 minutes remaining. Was able to close that in to only 4 seconds by the end of the race. Car felt amazing and could push it very hard in some rough sections. Managed to get a 38.4 as well.

For the last leg, i made one more small change. Car felt even better and i was able to walk away with the final. Setting both a new Lap and Track record in the process. Very happy with how it went. There was a set of triple jumps that most people could not get. With they Hyper i could clear them easy, would of been able to if their were 4 of them lol. This car jumps like crazy, and i could carry so much corner speed it was intense. This will be the same track we run on for another major event later in the year, so i was pleased to have a good run on it.

Will post a full set up shortly.

Feeling very good for the Nationals. Every time out with this car i keep getting better. Just need to remember i can push harder with this car in corners compared with my previous ride. Keep babying the thing around corners lol

Cheers

Well done on the win Steven. Look forward to seeing your setup!
Hopefully I can get Logans this week sometime too, 'cos my setup needs some fine tuning for the Nationals...
