is the set screw in the diff titanium as well!??!
& those are the kings head motor mounts your using? Are they not as tall as the HoBao mounts? maybe that's why you had to mill out the chassis under where the engine sits to give it more clearance
how is your transponder mounted on? |
Sorry, I didn't notice the transponder question!
It's just a thin smear of shoe-goo! Tape it in place till it's dry! |

If you can spend a little, try modding what you got and see how well it keeps pace with the 9!
I'm gonna see if I can get this buggy dialed in early this season! With it being so modified I can't work off of any known setups. If I like how it performs I'll stick with it for this season and maybe go with the 9 next year. If I can't get it to run for me(doubtful) I'll be posting pics of my 9 in a few months! LOL
I have a feeling this buggy is gonna be fast...just hope it's drivable!!! Even pushing it on the floor it feels so smooth and light.
Just over 2 months till the season starts! Can't wait to try this thing out! |

| Why you say you had to shim them Kyosho diff outdrives? I'm assuming that they are just a tad bit too long?? |

Over all they are shorter. On the Hobao drives, where the shaft meets the cup, there is a slight reveal, like a built in spacer! the MP9 outdrives do not have this reveal so you have to shim it to remove the play in & out. you can see it in this pic.

I gave the comparison in the extremely long description post!
MP9 = 8.63g each
HoBao = 11.5g each |

Yes, you gave the comparison in that extremely long description post, but you said the stock ones are 11.5g,.. did you compare the stock HoBao ones with the lightened Kyosho ones, or lightened HoBao ones with lightened Kyoso ones?
dang the MP9 ones are lighter |

I was comparing the Kyo. to the Stock HoBao. for the front and rear diffs.
I was comparing LW Hobao to Stock HoBao for the centers!
I purchased the LW HoBao Outputs for the F & R diffs but they were only 1g lighter than stock. I felt ripped off!
I noticed from pictures on AMain... that the Kyo. ones looked like they had similar hole spacing on the shaft so I ordered some on the chance they might work. I figured if they didn't fit right I would just return them. It's nice when you get lucky!!! |

The Kyosho ones are easier to get than the LW HoBao and they are cheaper too! I had to order the LW HoBao from The-Border and pay ridiculous shipping for little gain.
LW Hobao = $15 p/ high $ shipping from The-Border = 1g lighter each
Kyosho MP9 = $12.75 p/$3.75 shipping from A-Main. = 3g lighter each |

Kyosho MP9 drives - KYOIF412
Kyosho 6x8mm shims - KYO96046
you get a lot when you order Kyo. shims. they come assorted by 0.1, 0.2, 0.3mm thicknesses.
the shims also work on taking the up & down slop out of the steering bellcranks! |

If you don't shim the inside of your diff then you might need up to 0.6mm of shims per side. It's best to dry fit first! a little play is fine but you definately don't want it to bind at all! The Kyo. shims give you plenty of options.
I build my 8.5 diffs dry and use a Syringe to add oil through the set screw fill hole. I've got it measured and down to a Science now!! |
