Just waiting for the carbon fiber shock towers to get here.

I decided to modify the front Kingheadz aluminum arm holder so i could put the bumper back on. It didn't have the gap between it and the chassis for the bumper to slide into like factory plastic arm holder does. I took the dremel to it and removed just enough so the bumper would slide in and line up with the screw holes. I think it tuned out good.

Thanks!!! Also, yes Xtremercracing.com is where i got the carbon fiber parts from. I would recommend using Paypal though, if you send a check it'll take about 2 to 3 weeks before you get your parts. Im still waiting for my front and rear shock towers, i ordered the front on the 25th of April and sent the check the 26th. I emailed them and they said it should ship out later this week. I expect the rear tower won't ship until sometime next week.

There carbon fiber brake disks or the composite ones off the LX2 will also help make this tank lighter. I think i'm gonna go with the composite brake disks off the LX2.

thanks for the recommendations.

I bought one of these on Ebay and judging by the pictures it needs to be striped down cleaned and rebuilt. This is my first Nitro.

Can i ask which parts you replaced during this build that were worn out?

These are things i think i should do so far, i have lots of reading up todo.

1. Bearings & Hex Wheel Hubs
2. Air Filter Kit, Jammin
3. Replace all screws with a kit from RCSrewz
4. Carbon Brake Discs

good idea?

Are there any seals or other things i should change?

I would check all the hub and differential bearings for smooth operation, changing the air filter is just personal preference, i don't see any gains from any of the aftermarket kits. The screw kit is a good idea, but i would only replace the screws that really need replaced. Carbon or composite disks are definitely going to help lighten it.

I would change the differential fluids and the seals after rebuilding them. I went with 5,000wt. up front, 7,000wt. in the center and 2,000wt. in the rear. I also went with 30wt. oil in the front shocks and 35wt. in the rear shocks. These are suggestions for racing, if your planning on just bashing around with the buggy, it's really up to you as to how you want to build it.

I will say, don't get aluminum arms, braces or any kind of aluminum linkages, they will bend or break a lot easier than the plastic parts. The plastic parts flex and twist on hard landings and rough spots.

P.S. I would put thread lock on all differential, shock tower, shock, radio box and servo tray screws. Pretty much every screw on the car, also put some Loctite "stick & seal" waterproof adhesive on every e-clip on the car as well.

ok I will check diff bearings, thanks for that. As for air filter it was not for any gains but merely because the one on it is old and worn so just want to make sure there is no flow loss. anyhow the kit is cheap.

Yes i will change diff seals and go with your oil suggestions as i saw same combo on an other forum. For the shocks I planned to check them only but i think replacing oil would just be a better idea, yes i will be doing some lapping on our local track. So thats a perfect setup!

Agreed! On my electric cars i dont use any aluminium as much as possible and go with plastic stuff like RPM. Anyhow i hear these buggys are beasts and dont break! I just need to loose some weight on it though, carbon!

Cool, keep it updated!! I've noticed this forum doesn't get as much attention as the Kfx450hq.com forum i'm also a member of.

Yes these forums are a little slow, maybe this one is slower because its an older model car. Anyhow looking forward to rebuilding my Ultra LX1 Comp!

I decided to change the look of the shocks today. I used graphite colored wheel coating on the springs, i think they turned out nice!!

I'm fixin to check out your build thread!

Today i put on a front TeamC bumper and some TeamC mud guards from an Ofna Buggy8, turned out nice!! I also put the rear chassis brace from the LX2 on the rear assembly.

http://s1328.photobucket.com/user/UltraKfx/media/ultra17_zps6881fc32.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0

The rear end will be done after i get the carbon fiber shock tower installed tmrw!!

I'm also going to do some modding to the chassis to integrate the LX2 radio box on the LX1 chassis, waiting for that and the LX2 center diff assembly i ordered off ebay. I wanted the LX2 center diff assembly mainly for the composite brake disks and dual front and rear brake bias adjusters. Once i get these things done next week, the build will be pretty much done.

I'm also going to put the extended shock ball ends on it so i can run the 16mm big bore shocks from the LX2 and some new wheels and Triad tires once my funds allow me to.
