I got to the track early so i could brake in my Motor.
I had someone helping me.
That has raced and own 1/8 for over 8 years.
Thing's were going great we were on the end of the third tank.
The Motor mount bolt's came lose motor when wide open for maybe 30 to 40sec pop.
The motor Died tryed turning it over by hand Nothing.
I pulled end plate of the motor and peice's fell all over my table.
I must say i was mad as hell i went by just what OFNA said to brake in Motor.
I hope they make good on the Motor.
If not i will Never buy anything OFNA "AGAIN". |

So let me get this straight...
Your threatening to never buy Ofna again unless they replace an engine that failed due to something that was basically your fault????
I don't care what you seem to think, having motor mount bolts come loose would be the fault of the operator (you) for not making sure they were secure.
Not to mention if you run it WIDE OPEN (due to the motor coming loose) for 30-40 sec with no load, you can and will blow the con rod...It won't matter how you broke the engine in, they are not meant for sustained full throttle no load runs... |

Paradoxmaker I can see your point thinking it was my Fault.
The bolt's coming lose I spend that morning going over the whole buggy.
I put locktight on just about everything i could.
yes the buggy was on the stand idleing.
All i did was turn to get a screwdriver out of my tool box.
The motor went nut's going what i thought was wide open.
It made a small pop and died.
The rest of the story you have read.
I do not think i could have gotten the bolt's any tighter then they was.
And Motionmaker999
I like how you think you know whaat went on.
Let me make a point i'm not some dumb Kid off the block.
And this is not my First 1/8 Buggy.
I do have some Brain's and know not to beat on My stuff until full brake in is done with.
I did say if they did not make good on the Motor i would not buy OFNA again.
You have to understand this is the most money i have ever spent on the Hobby. My first 1/8 Buggy was a hand me down from a friend.
Yes i do think OFNA does make some fine Rig's.
As i was putting locktight on everything.
I see they had put Nylon Lock Nut's on just about everything.
Thank you for your time. |

I was fixing a friend's Duratrax Evader once (rear diff went....I detest ball differentials!). When I started it, it went to WOT and before I could shut it down, the con-rod broke. Turns out the throttle lever on the rotary carb was loose, and although the throttle servo looked like was holding the carb arm in the proper position, the carb barrel was actually in the WOT position.
Now whose fault is that? I figured mine because in hindsight I should have checked it. However it wasn't part of the car I worked on. Anyway, Hobby Services sent me a new engine for him as it may have been due to the fact the carb arm wasn't tightened properly at the factory. Or it could have been out of the goodness of their heart. Regardless, it doen't hurt to ask........................ |

Your right it never hurts to ask, but if everyone tried to get broken parts replaced due to something they did then the industry would never make money.
I'd love to have my a-arms replaced under warrentee for free becasue they are obviously not designed strong enough...It doesn't matter that i hit a pit wall at WOT and they sheared off
I'm not saying that defective parts don't need replaced, but you gotta draw the line somewhere. I know there are some companies go the other direction and you can't get them to replace anything. There is a fine line to it. the funny ting is that out of the dozens of Nitro forums you always see stories about parts that just "broke" and later as the pieces of the story come out it's almost never a flaw, it's the owners fault. |

Dirtyjack62 needs to understand these are not little boys toys. OFNA isn't at the top of their game because they build crap and rip people off. I think Tickle me Elmo is more up your alley, or maybe try reading and concentrating on school to improve your spelling and grammar first before you come here to embarrass yourself. |

| I just put a Ofna Force .28 black head motor in my RTR Jammin X1 CRT. So far so good, I have just ran about 5-6 tanks in it (4 tanks of breaking-in) and 2 tanks of track bashing. A buddy told me that Force .26 and .28 run better and more reliable around 200F. My Force .28 only runs at 200F or less and will only get as hot as 220F after the 2 back-to-back track bashing tanks. The .28 has a lot of torque, so with the right clutchbell combo (14T for larger tracks or 13T for smaller tracks), this is a good reliable motor. I used to owna a Force .26 that lasted a very long time. IMO, The force .26 is an awesome motor because it is reliable. I went from 20% to 30%, then back to 20% and it still ran like a top. Its lacks the top end that most expensive motor possess, but I would definately buy another Force .26 as a basher motor. |
