I'm going to try to install a O.S 18 in my LD3. I have no real experience with gearing. Especially two speed. With the larger more powerful engine what gearing should I use? Not for racing. I just want to get it going like a bat out of hell.

See what its like with the stock gearing then make your decision to go higher/lower on the results.

Since the stock gearing is low and the OS .18 requires high gearing, go with something like 18:44/24:38. The problem with this is that you cannot gear any higher in second so you will have excellent acceleration but might lose a little on the top-end.
BTW stock is 16:42/22:38. |

I tried the stock gearing with the O.S 18. The main problem I have is burning the tires in first gear. The car will leave two strips of black rubber for 12 feet. After each run my tires are shot and the inside of the body covered in tire residue. So I need gearing that will control this a bit.

Then try the gearing I suggested.
